Military Contractor Charged with Assault for Stabbing in Iraq Print

March 5th, 2007 by Associated Press

A military contractor was indicted on assault charges for allegedly stabbing a man while working in Iraq.

Aaron Langston, 30, of Snowflake, Ariz., is accused of attacking Gaddam Narayana with a knife on Feb. 15 at Al Asad Airbase, according to an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Phoenix.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix said Langston was working as a military contractor for KBR Inc. - formerly known as Kellogg, Brown & Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton Co.

Langston allegedly stabbed Narayana in the throat, cutting his jugular vein.

A judge ordered that Langston be returned to Arizona to face assault charges. If convicted, Langston faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both.
