The Steele Foundation Acquires Highly Respected Asia Investigative Team Print
04.19.07 - Business Wire

The Steele Foundation, a global provider of strategic investigative, consulting and security solutions, today announced the acquisition of an internationally recognized team skilled in analytical, investigative and valuation support for lawyers, financial services firms, regulators and corporate clients throughout Asia.

Bringing 35 years of law enforcement experience both in the United Kingdom and as a detective chief inspector with the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, Peter Goode has come to Steele as managing director for the Asia Pacific region. He is joined by colleagues Alan Wong and Tony Fu, who respectively have been named Asia Pacific regional director of operations and senior investigator.

The team comes to Steele from the management consulting firm of Alvarez & Marsal Asia Ltd, where they established a successful practice focused on compliance and regulatory requirements such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as intellectual property infringement.

"Peter Goode and his top-notch team will be responsible for the strategic development and delivery of services throughout Asia - a critical link to the Company's global business intelligence practice," said Kenneth Kurtz, chief executive officer at The Steele Foundation. "This acquisition fits perfectly with our sharpened focus on providing critical due diligence investigations, business intelligence, complex corporate liability risk management analyses and other core service offerings in China and throughout Asia."

Mr. Goode has built a notable career in the areas of fraud, forensic accounting, corruption and related business investigations. While at Alvarez & Marsal, he was a director of the dispute, forensics and analysis practice. His expertise has been recognized by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice. He also has been awarded the Colonial Long Service award from Her Majesty, the Queen of England.

Prior to his work at A&M, Mr. Goode was a director with the Chinese Services Group of Deloitte & Touche in Hong Kong, where he managed a major expansion of the firm's business intelligence and investigation practice throughout northeastern Asia. Previous to his work with Deloitte & Touche, Mr. Goode established Arthur Andersen's fraud investigation division in Tokyo.

Mr. Wong's investigative experience also spans three decades, including stints with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and the New South Wales Police Service in Australia. Prior to his work with A&M, he was employed with the international financial services firm of Deloitte & Touche Tohmatsu's Forensic Investigation Department and also assisted the firm's national security officer for the Greater China Region in preparing and disseminating security and travel advisory bulletins, advising on security and crisis management issues and coordinating security activities.

Mr. Fu, who is able to operate independently in the People's Republic of China, has extensive background in the areas of intellectual property theft, fraud and forensic services. During his career with the Royal Hong Kong Police, he was involved in police tactical duties and the investigation of serious crimes, including armed robbery, homicide, kidnapping and major frauds. Mr. Fu has been awarded numerous commendations by regional and district commanders for his achievement, outstanding performance and devotion to duty, including the Colonial Long Service Medal from Her Majesty the Queen of England.

The expansion of Steele's Asia operation reflects the Company's overall strategic focus on providing a suite of key investigative and consulting services for companies and law firms doing business in China's expanding market, including:

-- Business Intelligence (due diligence, background investigations, competitive intelligence, employee misconduct, industrial espionage)

-- Brand Protection (counterfeit, grey market and product diversion, market surveys, controlled buys)

-- Crisis Management (kidnapping & ransom, extortion, pandemic planning, business continuity, malicious product tampering)

-- Litigation Support (witness vetting, expert investigation and analysis)

-- Corporate Governance (Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, supply chain security, Federal Corrupt Practices Act, fraud awareness, forensic accounting, internal audits, mergers & acquisitions)
