ArmorGroup International’s team in Afghanistan received a boost to morale when Praful C. Patel, the World Bank’s Vice President for South East Asia wrote to the Group’s Chief Operating Officer commending the exemplary performance of Tim Muddiman, an ArmorGroup security officer, following a suicide bomb attack next to the Bank’s office in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The vehicle-borne suicide attack on a military convoy took place in November 2007 and caused extensive damage to the Bank’s office buildings. Tim and the rest of the ArmorGroup security team reacted quickly to the incident ensuring a wounded ArmorGroup guard was evacuated to hospital within minutes of the explosion occurring, the site was secured and a coordinated search for other casualties was carried out.

Tim, who previously served in the UK’s Royal Air Force Regiment and has worked with ArmorGroup in Afghanistan since February 2006, had been heavily involved in the implementation of a number of preventative security measures with the bank’s security team which limited the damage to the Bank’s offices and prevented any casualties from the blast amongst the Bank’s employees.

Tim commented: “The quick reaction of the team, including Gurkha Guard Manager Motiram Rana, Guard Supervisor Mohammad Nabi and the rest of the duty guard force, was paramount in ensuring an effective and efficient response: I am proud to accept this letter of commendation on behalf of the team as a whole.”

ArmorGroup is one of the leading providers of defensive protective and security consultancy services in Afghanistan and has been operating in the country since 2002. The Group has over 1,450 highly experienced employees in Afghanistan, carrying out over 900 protective security missions a month, in support of a growing number of commercial, governmental and NGO clients such as the US and UK Governments and the World Bank.
