IPOA - Seeking Programs Director Print

The International Peace Operations Association (IPOA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan member-led association of private companies dedicated to improving peace operations through greater privatization. Member companies provide critical conflict and post-conflict services such as mine action, medical services, logistics, transportation, aerial urveillance, training, armoring, humanitarian services, and armed security.
The Association was founded to institute industry-wide standards and a code of conduct, maintain sound professional practices, educate the public and policymakers on the peace and stability industry's activities and potential, and ensure the humanitarian use of private peacekeeping services for the benefit of international peace and human security.

IPOA has an opening for a talented Washington, DC based individual interested in the international peacekeeping and security field.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, international security affairs, peacekeeping or related fields; 3 years of work experience (experience running a business a plus); excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications and internet research, attention to detail; superior organizational skills; and strong writing and proofreading skills. Candidates must be strong communicators, must be comfortable interacting with senior personnel and able to work independently.

Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day functions of the association, including committees, and the internship program. Responsibilities also include preparing the IPOA Quarterly newsletter, writing and editing articles for publication in journals/magazines/newspapers, attending conferences and meetings, and organizing events such as roundtables and IPOA's annual conference. Start Date: May 15, 2006
Salary: Mid to Upper 30's, commensurate with experience.
